Description of Pendant-Cabochon
A cabochon is a gemstone which has been shaped and polished as opposed to faceted. The resulting form is usually a convex (rounded) obverse with a flat reverse. Emerald Cabochons are cut with a domed top, generally in a round or oval shape. This type of cut shows off the amazing colour while giving you a large stone for a fantastic price. Color is the most important property of an Emerald, not the clarity. Calibrated cabochons are made to specific sizes and shapes to help meet the needs of the jewelry industry. By cutting cabochons to specific shapes and sizes, cabochons can be placed in mass-produced jewelry without having to make adjustments to the jewelry. Though amulets come in many forms, a wearable amulet worn around the neck or on the arm or leg in the form of a pendant is the most common. These are objects believed to possess magical or spiritual power to protect the wearer from danger or dispel evil influences.
